Always wondered why the
rasam made in temples tastes much better than what I make at home. I don’t know
how many of you have had lunch at
Dharmastala
Temple
; the rasam there tastes
so good.
For that matter any
temple, I know it is not my imagination. Rasam, plain rice, papads and some
mixed pickle is in my opinion a fantastic combination.
Then at the end if you
are still hungry mix some yogurt to the rice and add some of this rasam and
don’t forget the pickle.
Gosh! My mouth is
already watering…Guess I will finish the leftover rasam.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. grated
coconut
- 2-3 tsp coriander
- 1 1/2 tsp
jeera

- 1/2 tsp turmeric

- 1/2 tsp tamarind
paste
- 6-8 curry leaves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 4-6 red chillies, to
taste
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 tsp brown
sugar
- 3/4 tsp urid dal
- 1-2 tsp whole chana
- Salt to taste

like consistency.

Season with mustard
seeds and curry leaves.
Taste for salt and serve
hot with Rice or Idli.
